The Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period is going away. It is being replaced by the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (MA OEP), which runs from January 1 to March 31 each year. You must be enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan on January 1st, to be eligible to use this enrollment period. During the MA OEP, you can switch from your current Medicare Advantage Plan to another Medicare Advantage Plan, or back to Original Medicare with or without a stand-alone prescription drug plan (Part D). As a reminder, you can only use this enrollment period once during the enrollment timeframe. Changes made during this period take effect the first of the month following the month you enroll. If you have Original Medicare with or without a prescription drug plan (Part D), you typically cannot switch your plan during this time. Need Help?
